Hi folks,

If this discussion concerns the short term, please ignore this message.

If this discussion concerns the long term, and if only some institutions want some of the mentioned fields, this seems like an excellent candidate for the "custom fields" feature, where each institution could potentially adapt the fields that exist and/or appear, and how they behave (see an introduction to it here: https://discuss.folio.org/t/custom-fields-ux-iteration-1/1849). The feature is not yet in development, and as such is only a UX concept at present time. However, I just wanted to make you all aware of it so that you might keep it in mind for any discussions where applicable.

Please let me know if you have any questions, advice or ideas about the notion of custom fields.

Best regards

There are no fields for them appearing on the UI. I don't know if that means they might still be there somewhere.

I think we should at least touch base about it.  Are they missing from the record entirely?  Those might be fields that are legal to leave blank, and they might not be populating by default.

Subject: Missing user name data elements

Hi,

A colleague in the Resource Access SIG reports that a few important user name fields may be missing:

preferredFirstName, Middle Name, Honorific, and Suffix.

At Cornell, preferred names are really important, which may be true for other Unis as well. Middle Name is helpful, especially for many non-English names, and we use "Jr, III"  etc. in Suffix. Honorific isn't so important to us, but it is for other institutions.

Has anyone else noticed that and, if so, should we discuss it at the next meeting?

Thanks,

Phil
