Hello all,

I’m also interested in seeing if there has been any discussion about supporting generic user accounts. At Duke, a number of our libraries loan items to departments, or to partner institutions in the area (for example, the National Humanities Center, which is a local institute that hosts visiting scholars and has its own librarian, who handles requests for items for scholars on site.)

I did a pass through the UXPROD Jira open and closed and didn’t see anything about this particular case. There doesn’t seem to be any reason right now that I couldn’t create a generic account with First Name National Humanities and last name Center, for example. It displays a little strangely but not counterintuitively, if that makes sense.

But, I could see this maybe being a use case when a library might want to handle fines differently than for an individual, or retain records differently, because it’s not being loaned to an individual per se. Or there may be considerations with the Users API and how it accepts connections from self-check machines or things like that.

Cheers,

Erin

Hello, all.

We have a lot of discussion points, but so far no one to run the meeting tomorrow.  I would like to put Uschi’s points on the agenda for next week, the 27th, and meet then.

I apologize but I won’t be able to make it to tomorrow or the next week’s meetings.  I will prepare to speak to you all concerning our efforts to import users on April 3 if that works for everyone.

Hello, all.

As I remember it, we will meet tomorrow.

1.       Todd W. will walk us through his efforts in setting up users

2.       I’d like to revisit the discussion we had last week, regarding whether we should advocate for a little backend coding that will give us an easier way to access a person’s UUID (the only unique identifier for users in the permissions module) and a user’s username and/or barcode, which are unique identifiers in the users module and can supply the UUID.

3.       The floor is open for any other agenda items.

Also, in a bold plot twist, I am sick and may not be able to make it to the meeting.  Can someone else convene the meeting tomorrow?

If so, what's the agenda?

Thanks,
