Good point, thank you for that.

Truthfully,
We are designing FOLIO to help librarians get work done.  We should be defining FOLIO requirements for that purpose 1st and foremost. FOLIO is being built for librarians.
WFE is a tool/architecture to help us reach those goals and the manner it supports those goals should be decided by the developers.  We should not be defining requirements that require WFE or any other technology.  In SIGS, we need to focus on the problem.  The developers get to focus on the solution that best solves those problems.  I think this is especially important as I don't think we actually have clarity on exactly what WFE delivers.

The world is littered with failed software projects that focused on the technology and not the user.

My 2 cents __

FYI: workflow engine is an active topic right now for both PC and TC, and we are looking at what might be a viable path towards a WFE. So if the designer thinks differently because there is currently no WFE, then we can talk about what the needs would be. If it is for other reasons, that's different.

I will not be able to make the meeting on Monday.  I need to attend the RA SIG call on Monday.  The group is discussing how to configure and schedule notices for different loan policies.
The hope was to use the workflow engine, but a designer apparently thinks differently.

Subject: Data Migration on Monday

Hi all,

We will have another meeting of the Data Migration sub-group on Monday at 11 EST. We'll cover where we are at with Users, Inventory, and Loans, and see what kind of state Requests is in, and see if we can start work on Fees and Fines. Hopefully, we can get an update on the meeting from this week on the data loader. Here is the agenda. Feel free to add to it if I have missed something.
