FYI -   Cate is the head PO.  She will be on vacation next week so you may want to ask her ASAP.

Subject: SIG liason / PO discussion today

Hello everyone,

why don't we use the Jira to bring our issues to the developers and so support Wayne in the SIG liason's role (in the absence of a Product Owner).

https://issues.folio.org/secure/Dashboard.jspa

I will be willing to ask Cate Borema (she seems to be something like the head of Product Owners) whether the SysOps SIG shall proceed in this way. I.e. not having a PO but acting with a SIG liason (Wayne) and extensively using the Jira for our issues that come up in the SIG discussions.

I am not sure if we can also ASSIGN the jira tickets, maybe this needs to be done by someone else. I would ask Cate about that. The SIG could then ask the person who was assigned to join a SIG session, when appropriate.

Do you think this will help solve the problem ?

It must of course be made sure that the issues will be assigned and prioritized, but this is what I would ask Cate for.

I also think that it is hard to find a PO, since we don't have a "product" in the classic sense and this person will have to be in contact with developers from many different teams. It's a very time consuming job with which we certainly don't want to charge Wayne, right ?

Please give me your opinions about this.

As for the subgroup, also in a discussion with Martina, I again find that setting the agenda, doing the invitations (...or cancellations) and then finally being the anchorman in the discussion must be done by one single person, do to the dynamic nature of the subgroup. But we both like the idea of rotating. We will have to see if this is practical, though. Maybe we can have a group of 3 or 4 who take turns in convening (the others are invited too, of course). Martina says it takes a lot of time to convene two sessions per week.

Best regards,

Ingolf
