Hi Ingolf.  I agree with Chris.  I think the Sys Ops & Mgt meeting will have to stay where it is.  The Product Council isn’t moveable either.  It took us awhile to find a meeting time and that group is larger.  The issue is that due to the international nature of this project and US time zones, most of our meetings have to be between 9:00 am and 11:00 am EST.

I would like to attend the next Sys Ops & Mgt meeting to discuss the migration issue.  I will just skip the PC meeting.  Will you be meeting tomorrow?  Or will this need to wait until the first week in January?  I don’t want to interrupt your planned agenda, but people are really anxious to start talking about this so I don’t want to delay too much.  I could also set up a separate meeting for several of us.

For the benefit of everyone not included in my original email to Ingolf, my original thought was that the Sys Ops & Mgt SIG would be responsible for the entire migration plan.  Now I am seeing that while the Sys Ops & Mgt SIG has a major role to play in the migration, there are many migration issues (data migration, documentation, training) that are user oriented/driven.  Dumping all of this on the Sys Ops & Mgt SIG is asking too much.

I am recommending that the Sys Ops & Mgt SIG focus on implementing the FOLIO software at an institution and managing it (which is probably what you already thought you were doing.  J ).  We would also have an Implementation Team (I am purposely not calling it a SIG) with sub-groups for Data Migration, End-User Documentation, End-User Training, and External System Integration.  The Sys Ops & Mgt SIG would be involved with the Implementation Team and it’s sub-groups related to technical aspects.

Thanks for listening.  I look forward to discussing this further.

Best,

Holly

Subject: first meeting in 2018

Dear SysOps group,

conerning the date and time of our first meeting in 2018 - and subsequent regular meetings - the situation is not so clear.

According to the Doodle poll, only the original Thursday 10 AM EST time works without key experts not being able to take part.

The time might be slightly shifted earlier towards 09:30 EST.

The PC meeting is from 09:30 to 11 EST, so it will overlap by one full hour in both cases.

I don't see any way out at the moment, not even if the meeting is scheduled still later (say, at 11 EST on Thursdays).

Is it an option to shift the time of the PC meeting ?

Best,

Ingolf
