Yes, it most likely is the same team with additional expertise thrown in…

I agree with Peter. Perhaps some shops are pure enough that migration would be separate from production ops, but mostly it's the same team responsible for the production data load, isn't it? It seems like a good deliverable for our SIG, from that perspective.

Interesting question.  I'm interested to hear from the operations folks in the room, but I sort of think of migration as close to an operations function being that it is so close to the production data.  Certainly there would need to be some participation from the development groups, but it would be driven by operations folks, no?

P.S.  I just added a new deliverable to our charge: Migration plans (for phased migration and big-bang migration).

This is something institutions have started talking about.  Maybe this is a separate SIG?  Thoughts?

Hi Sys Ops & Mgt SIG members!  Since we met yesterday, Dale Arnston from U Chicago has joined our group.  So we now have three libraries represented.  I talked to TAMU, GBV, and Duke at the OLE Steering Committee meeting today.  TAMU is going to add someone, but they need a little time to determine who the best person is.  Duke doesn’t have anyone to add and won’t have until 2019—they don’t plan on implementing FOLIO until 2020.  GBV has already contributed a full-time developer, so they plan on talking to their German cohort hbz about contributing someone to our group.   Three of our partners are so new that we are still onboarding them and I don’t think SOAS is in a position to join up, but I will ask anyway.

Best,

Holly
