Hi all,
I would like to invite you to the next meeting of the SysOps SIG, which will take place at the regular day and time.
It looks like we should re-address the topic of SSO authentication with SAML, find out which direction are we going to go.
And certainly, TAMU's great work of automatic migration testing for Goldenrod should be addressed.
There are some institutions which have gone live with Folio now, and more are close to going live. I heard Lehigh will go live on Monday. In Germany, ZBW and Leipzig have both gone live in June. Apart from Chalmers, the first institution that had gone live, reading the pages of the Implementation Group, it find that also Simmons University (FLO), Duke with ERM and many more have gone live! This is certainly an interesting, important phase of the project, and full of news and rapidly changing.I think for SysAdmins, I (and many others) would like to get an overview of the different deployment methods, especially for those, who are or will be self-hosting.So far, we focused mainly on the Kubernetes/Rancher solution, but this is not the only method that the implementers chose. In Germany, there is the repeated call for a regular meeting of the SysAdmins.
I think, while we focus mainly on strategical changes in this group, there should also be room for exchange about the systems that the implementers are now actually working with.
While in the early meetings of SysOps SIG we chose to pick just one or two deployment scenarios for deep coverage within this SIG, I think now is the time to go back and see what different ways to deploy there have been really established in the Community. And discuss their pros and cons. I will be tenterhooks to hear what is your opinion about this.
By the way: Tomorrow is the 3rd anniversary of the first SysOps SIG meeting ! And this was the only one without me as the Convener - but with Alan McCarty from Cornell.Let's all take a glass of prosecco, coffee or juice, as you like, and have a cheer about three years of SysOps SIG !
See you tomorrow,I am looking forward to the next 3 years,
Ingolf
