Hi Lydia, Anne

The recordings could be relevant for more people to see as well, e.g. when missing a meeting, or to catch up on a discussion, with many details, relevant for the requirements.

Maybe we could create a sub-folder for these recordings in the Report_SIG folder, similar to what we have in the RM SIG. I know that there probably are some limitations on how many hours of Zoom-recordings we are able to archive. But like the RM SIG, then we could keep the recordings for 2 weeks, and then delete them.

Best

Charlotte

I will send Ingolf a copy of the recording.

As for all of the documents on the Google Docs site, i.e. OLF_Shared/FOLIO/Reporting_SIG/library_stats/acq_resource_mgmt/ScreenShot_examples, they are all pdf or google sheet or google docs format and should be easily read or edited in Google Drive

I’m not sure where we are on this now as I don’t know if I uploaded things before or after you sent this message. All I can say is this should not be so hard….

Can you please let us know where the recording for this week’s session can be found? Ingolf Kuss is asking…

Thanks. Lydia

Subject: Re: Uploading files to google drive

I can open and view the pdfs just fine in Chrome. Which browser were you using, Lydia? Perhaps that's the issue.

As for the Excel files, the Google docs are set to convert Excel sheets to Google sheets upon upload; I don't know why that didn't happen. (Even though they retain the .xlsx extension; just one of Google's many irritating idiosyncrasies). If you look at the icons for the spreadsheet files, you'll see that CU - Material Paid ... IS a Google Sheet, but Most Recent Issues and Subscription Payments are not. I suspect that's because Charlotte downloaded, then re-uploaded the sheet, since she's the current owner? In any case I have done the same with the other two spreadsheets that didn't convert. Lydia, would you please delete those spreadsheets with the 'X' icon and then I'll rename the ones I uploaded.

Meanwhile, let me mention that Texas A&M does infrastructure support for OLE, including maintaining the Google Docs site, so if you have problems in future, please start the Google Docs questions with me. (Having said that I have to mention that I'm leaving today at 5 pm for a short vacation, but I'll keep an eye on things.)

Hi Lydia,

Thank you so much for adding all the new documents in the Reporting_SIG folder.

I have taken a quick look at the problem you describe. And I see for example five files uploaded in FOLIO > Reporting_SIG > library_stats > Acq_resource_mgmt > ScreenShot_examples

I can without any extra programs read and edit following three files in Google Drive:

  • z_serials.xlsx
  • NCSU_MonthlySerialsClaiming.txt - which I can open with Google Docs (this as an option in the top of the screen, I get a drop down menu). The original txt-file I have moved to the new subfolder 'Original documents'
  • NCSU_FY_OrderlinesDelimitedOutput.txt - as above

The two files

  1. CORNELL - AprvInv Rpt by Title.pdf and
  2. CORNELL - Material Paid w Split Funds.xlsx

are somehow a little different. I can download and open them on my laptop. But I have to investigate why the two xlsx files act differently.

I'll get back as soon, as I can.

Best Charlotte

I have pdf and xlsx files to upload to our Reporting SIG google drive folder. They are not, however, showing up as a pdf or xlsx and seem to require download and selection of a program to view. This cannot be right. What am I missing?
