Peter,

Great question! Below is me just brain storming.

Re the agenda – looks great to me 😉, but I have sort of volunteered Dennis .

  1. Circulation set up would be a great topic.

The 4 components of rule: loan type, location, material type, patron group

Policies

Rules

Notices

Calendar

  1. Requesting and fulfilling requests

Holds, Pages, Recalls

Ordering of request

Hold shelf management

Patron notices

How to override a due date

How to override a permission

Check in/ check out – proxies

  1. Inventory:

Getting a source record into the FOLIO

Setting up parent and child records

Music and multiple pieces  items

Answer the following questions

Why/when would you suppress a record from staff

What should be in inventory

How would a cataloger use Inventory ?

What is the envisioned process of work ?

How would a access services person use inventory?

What is the envisioned process of work ?

  1. Record loading

Great!  Thanks, Eric.  I've started a planning document:

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1z1g4RlCdbZUWz2LcHzzbSnwlWWjVeBNTYi-i_NcRLpI/edit?usp=sharing

...and put in a draft of a forum description there.  Dennis and Anya: could you took a look at that and adjust as needed?  When that is done I can set up the webinar in Zoom.

Anya: thoughts on which area of apps it would be good to focus on next?

If the point is to help gather testers, I think we'd want it to be based on that release, no?

Forum Facilitators: is someone available to take the lead on this?  I'll be at an Index Data team meeting that day and can't host it.

Hi All,

I’d be happy to do another forum webex. August 21st would work best as it will give me a little time to prepare post Q3.1 release. Would you want this to be based on that release or the latest features available in the snapshot environment? None of the Finance app updates were included in the 3.1 release and there still isn’t much to show for invoices there. However, we could certainly look in detail at the Organization, Orders and receiving functionality that Anya has outlined below.

Cheers,

CAUTION: External E-mail

Thanks, Anya!  We don't have anything on the schedule at this point, and this sounds like a great idea.  Dennis: are you up for it?  It might be a little fast to put something together for August 14th.  How does August 21st or August 28th look for you?  We're moving to holding the forums once-a-month rather than every two weeks, so we have some flexibility with scheduling.

Copying the forum facilitators on this, too.

Today in the PO meeting it was brought up that testers were called for during the last PC meeting.

I recently conducted testing at the FCs in a room full of acquisition librarian and staff who manage the day to day of purchasing materials for the libraries. Our purpose was to go through the steps outlined in Test-rails. What we discovered is that if you have not been involved in the process you do not know what the envisioned flow of work is, which leads to confusion and frustration.

FOLIO like any other system thinks about and handles things differently than what they are used to.

It would be extremely helpful to have the POs starting with Acq demonstrate and talk through the process at a FOLIO Forum. This will help in level setting testers and the community at large.

I have CCed Dennis because I believe he should go first, if you agree that this could and should be done as a forum.

He could show:

  • Adding an organization
  • Creating an one time and an on-going order
  • Creating the PO lines on those orders
  • Talk about how the funds will link to orders
  • Receiving those items
  • How an aqc person might place holds on on-order items

Thanks,
