Table navigation discussion Cate Boerema 12 Jan 2018 13:09 EST
Hi all,

In our RA SIG meeting yesterday, Andrea couldn't recall a table navigation decision I was referencing. Turns out this discussion happened on a day Andrea wasn't there, which explains why she wouldn't remember it :).

Specifically, I'm referring to the decision to not put links in record lists (e.g. Loans, Requests, Fees/Fines) so that we could have clicking anywhere on the row take you to the detail record. In the detail record itself, all the metadata that makes sense to be a link would be a link (e.g. barcodes, titles, user names etc).

I dug up the recording<https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B7G8S7WF6N20NkVtc0x6ZmwxaGc> (thank you to whoever is saving these in Google Drive!) and you can find the discussion beginning at about 33:57.

I wanted to send this along to the entire list because there may be others who missed the meeting and I would really like for us to all be aligned on this. I also want to emphasize that, if we go down this path, there is nothing preventing us from changing our minds later on if we find that this approach is not working out. Let's circle back on this briefly next time we meet just to make sure that we're all on the same page.

Have a great weekend, everyone!

Best,

Cate
