Hi RA SIG!  I have a quick question about “Quick Paydown.”  I asked this question at a recent RA SIG meeting but was unable to get an answer.

I am trying to find out who asked for the “Quick Paydown” feature for fees/fines.  It’s a great feature, but I don’t remember who asked for it.  In summary, this is a way to quickly paydown fees/fines so that the patron is able to get a block removed.  For example, Bobby owes $150 in fees/fines and is not able to check out anything if he owes over $100.  He really needs to check something out so he hands over $50 to pay just enough on his fees/fines to be able to check out what he needs.  He doesn’t care which fees/fines are paid and the staff member doesn’t want to go through a long list to find fees/fines that will add up to $50.00.  The Quick Paydown will automatically pick the fees/fines to pay.

In case you are wondering why this has come up, I noticed on Chicago’s “gap analysis” responses that they indicated that “Quick Paydown” was “not needed.”  I found this odd because I thought David from Chicago had requested it.  He didn’t, so now I am trying to find out who did.   Everyone else on the “gap analysis” has “Quick Paydown” as either “not needed” or “can wait for a year.”  The person who wanted the feature was very passionate about needing it to save time when people just want to get down to a particular level.

It will be left as a feature for fees/fines, but certainly at much lower priority now.

Thanks,

Holly
