This is helpful, particularly the graphic. Are the locations that have been defined in FOLIO segmented into the level of control and parameters like in the graphic? That is, can we say that “shelving location” has certain functional settings and functions that act at that level of the hierarchy? It might be useful to take this approach as a way of eschewing leading hierarchy names that predetermine how a library thinks and designs its implementation.

Hi all,

 

I had the opportunity to talk to my colleagues about location levels in the system we are currently using (LBS4 by OCLC).
We have the possibility to define 5 levels, 4 of them are mandatory. I tried to sketch the different levels (see attachment).
