Hi all,
A little explanation for Filip’s message: Today’s sub-area group was helping Filip to develop a list of components of circulation policies.
Assuming that location, item type and patron group are selected what components, concepts, etc. need to be considered when loan policies are created.
The list so far:
-
Loan period
-
Renewals (yes/no, # permitted, time frame)
-
Grace periods (yes/no, how long)
-
Requests (permission, # limits, types [hold, delivery, recall]
-
Hold shelf life
-
Fines
-
Fees
-
Pick-up location limitations/service access limitations (is this policy or patron permission or both??)
-
Proxy limitation (some things can only be picked up in person, not by a proxy)
-
Notice configuration (which notices, at what intervals, how many times, etc.)
-
Calendar connections (include/exclude closed dates /times)
-
Override default (pre-set date/time interval for overrides – can be adjusted manually)
-
Time to hold shelf (built in notification delay) – does this belong here or is it tied to location??
I’m going to set up another set of subpages in the wiki for this list (and others to come). Please feel free to add to or notate.
Also, please remember to take a look at the FOLIO v1 list that Harry presented today (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Yf81Xmfwj40gT_sd2AE5ZdiYeDmJp3W4No1X7fNOEYc/edit#gid=629121461)
Next week’s meeting will be about giving him feedback on what’s missing and/or needs to be reprioritized. Feel free to make comments (either in the comments field or by using the google comments feature).
Thanks everyone,
Andrea
