The fine policies are part of circulation rules. So whatever fine behavior applies, and whatever overdue charges apply, depends on the circulation rule that fires
when your item is loaned. So in terms of distinguishing between DVDs and books, it depends on how you construct your rules (do you decide they should match on material type, or loan type, or location?)

Yeah, I've been thinking through different scenarios for this. I think the permanent location could work. The part I haven't gotten my mind around is if there are different replacement costs, for example, a DVD on reserve. The DVD cost
is higher than a reserve book. I guess it depends if they are calculating the replacement cost on material type or location...hmm. I think we can work with whatever they come up with. Like you said, as long as it is changeable.

Hi RA SIG! Quick (I hope) question for you...
When an item is overdue, the overdue fine is “owned” by the Effective location for item. If an item is lost, the lost item fee should be owned by the owning library rather than where it may happen to have been shelved when it was checked out. Would that location be the Holdings location Permanent location? (See Item Location section screen print below.)
Thanks,
Holly
