Yes, this helps. In Voyager, there has always been a problem with certain minutely loans that are charged out late in the evening. Voyager doesn’t use our “skip over closed periods” rule if there is an “overnight
loan” rule that applies (as there is for minutely loans with us). We have a mix of loan periods for minutely loans, ranging from 1 hour to 4 hours. Most are 2- hour loans, so we set our overnight loan rule to release at 2 hours before closing. If you have
a 4-hour loan that’s charged out less than 4 hours before closing, but before the overnight loan release time (2 hours before closing), the 4-hour loan will be made due at closing, rather than the next morning (by using the skip-over-closed-periods rule).
I don’t know if Folio will be able to do this.

Subject: RE: Due times after midnight
Hi Joanne,
My understanding is that the answer here is a yes . . . but. For a regular loan, if an item is due on a given date it will be due by closing or 11:59 pm on that date (depending on your set-up). If it
comes in at 2 am on the following date, it’s overdue. I’d think those 2 am returns could be resolved with a grace period.
For short term loans, the system should ‘do the math’, so that a 4 hour loan that is checked out at 10pm should be due at 2 am the next day as long as your calendar indicates that you’re open. What I’m not entirely
clear on is what happens to that 4 hour loan when you check it out at 11pm and the system is set to count closed hours..
Does that help? Does anyone have a clearer answer?
Andrea

Subject: Due times after midnight
Dear Sig members,
Please remind me – will FOLIO recognize due times after midnight (say, 2am?) – some of our libraries are open after midnight, and circulate minutely loans (reserves and equipment) that can come due between midnight and 2:00am. Will FOLIO
recognize these due times as valid?
Thanks! - Joanne
