This is an e-mail from August just making the rounds?

I can tell you that we worked on improving definitions in the vendor record schema and had Texas A&M try to evaluate. They indicated we need to make them better. We have updated the descriptions in the data elements spreadsheet, but not yet in the online schema. We’ll be pivoting the vendor app to an organizations app in the next few weeks, and I hope we’ll update the descriptions then. In the meantime, like Dennis said, if any questions, I’m sure he or I can help,

Thanks,

A-M

Hi Charlotte, Sorry, I missed this email. If you haven't done so already, I think that that would be an excellent idea. I don't know that it is a technical issue per say, but it affects a lot of people's technical engagement with Folio. As long as domain experts can read a json schema, I don't see any problem with their helping to describe what what these json elements mean and are used for.

Hi Dale  (+ added David Crossley, Mike Gorrell, Peter Murray, Adam Dickmeiss and Jakub Skoczen as well),

Would this question re. general adoption of the OKAPI-241 recommendation be relevant to bring forward to the Technical Council?

I'm sure all PO's can provide the needed descriptions of implemented elements, which most of us already have in our specifications (in spreadsheets, documents, jiras).

Best

Charlotte

David Crossley got back to me and said that there is a jira issue on this topic:

https://issues.folio.org/browse/OKAPI-241

and that some module developers have adopted it, but not others. He said that each module needs to be encouraged/assisted to enhance their schemas using these elements.

Here’s the reply I got from Dennis.

Also here is a pdf with the results of UAT testing done on the Vendor app in late July: https://wiki.folio.org/display/RM/Acquisitions+Small+Group?preview=%2F1415804%2F14454874%2F20180809Vendor+UAT+Review.pdf

I guess for now just taking a stab and noting any questions in the comments is what we can do.

Hi Patty,

If your concern is identifying the function of certain fields it may be best for you to collect the questions you have and send them my way. Our team should be able to fill in the majority of the blanks for you. Unfortunately, there is business logic that is still evolving and so there will likely be additional changes moving forward.

I have attached the latest version of the data dictionary. However, it has already fallen behind as we're currently working on 5 of our six modules in parallel and also feeling the heat lol. Let me know if you’d like to pass on your questions or set up a time to discuss over Slack.

Hope this helps!

Good afternoon, Dennis,

I am following up on a request I made last May. The Data Migration subcommittee is still looking for a data dictionary for the Vendor app. You had said that most of the documentation was in Jira, and had tagged in John Komick.

We are struggling with our gap analysis because some of the headings are not understood. Dale has reached out to David Crossley, with the understanding that he is the project documentarian, but hasn’t heard back.

I have some time to work on this if I had some orientation.

Let me know ow we can achieve this goal – we are feeling the heat!
